Getting started

After registration, the panel opens the setup wizard with four steps: machines, materials, rates and calibration. Setup takes about 15 minutes. Every value can be changed later in the Quoting rules tab. The welcome screen also offers “Set it up with me”: MetronQ schedules a short call and configures the shop together with you, at no extra cost on every plan.

The setup wizard

1. 1Machines: first select the quote currency. All rates are entered in this currency. Changing the currency later does not convert the amounts already entered. A new account contains two sample machines at MetronQ's rates: a 3-axis mill at 250 an hour and a CNC lathe at 220 an hour. Replace them with the shop's own machines (technology, hourly rate, work envelope, number of axes, minimum tool radius), or pick the models from the machine catalogue.
2. 2Materials: a new account contains aluminium 6061 and S235 steel at MetronQ's prices, and four sample operations (anodising, zinc plating, quench-and-temper and a CMM report). Add further materials from the library of 39 grades, each with the shop's own purchase price per kilogram.
3. 3Rates: margin, minimum order value, setup time, lead times and delivery costs.
4. 4Calibration: what it does. “Finish setup” closes the wizard and opens the Calibration tab. It needs at least 5 parts the shop has already priced, which the wizard does not ask for.

Trial and limits

A new account starts with a 14-day trial: no payment card, 8 quotes and two users. The trial is intended for testing the whole process, not for production. Parts uploaded in the Calibration tab do not count against the quote allowance, so pricing can be tuned without using it up.

The first test quote

Before offering the quoting tool to customers, upload a test STEP file through the widget, or with “New manual quote” in the Quotes tab. The test shows the customer's path (geometry analysis, the configurator and the price) and, on the quote screen in the panel, the cost breakdown behind the price.
