How a quote is produced

The path a file takes from your customer to a price and your decision.

Six steps

  1. 1The customer uploads a file into the widget on your site or onto your hosted page. No account needed.
  2. 2The engine reads the geometry: bounding box, volume, holes, pockets, slots, threads, thin walls, rotational bodies. The same file produces a 3D preview with clickable features.
  3. 3The customer sets the parameters: quantity, material, tolerance and roughness classes, confirms threads and fits, picks finishing operations and a lead time.
  4. 4The engine prices it from your configuration: material, roughing and finishing, drilling, setup and CAM programming per batch, external operations, margin, delivery.
  5. 5The safety gate decides whether the price goes out at once, waits for your review, or the part needs an individual quote.
  6. 6You approve or adjust the price. The customer gets an e-mail with a link to the quote and can order straight from it.

What the price is built on

The model derives machining time from the volume of material to remove, the surface to finish and individual features (holes, pockets, threads), not from a generated toolpath. Material is priced from the bounding block plus an allowance, or from a commercial bar for turned parts. Per batch it adds the fixed costs: setup scaled by fixturings and complexity, CAM programming, tooling and delivery.

The engine is deterministic: the same inputs always produce the same price, and the breakdown shows every line of it. Which is why the result is exactly as good as your configuration - machine rates, material prices and the multiplier from Calibration.

Tip

Every price you adjust is stored next to the automatic one and returns to Calibration as a sample. The more you adjust, the closer the model tracks your own numbers.
